Celebrating STRIVE

Rosemount Rotary recognized STRIVE participants and mentors at the May 13th meeting.  Four students successfully completed the program and each received $400  scholarships for doing so: Julieana Avila (mentor Erin Edlund), Brandon Stime (mentor
Jim Friend), Navita Singh (mentor Joan Rusco), and Lindsey Yang (mentor Michelle Tighe). To be eligible for the scholarship, students had to maintain a certain number of classes, attend at least 90% of STRIVE meetings (held twice monthly) and maintain at least a C average in all of their winter and spring classes. An additional $500 scholarship was given to the student with the most improved GPA, Lindsey Yang. Her GPA increased .106. Next fall she plans on attending St. Cloud State University to study Chemistry.

The first year of STRIVE was a success. Some changes will be made to next year’s program. The program will be started in the first trimester in the fall rather than the winter.
